Midnight Applenappers; thieves in the night.

I posted this two weeks ago: "The deer haven't found the apples yet!
I looked out the window & saw the storm clouds coming near & thought they'd make a nice backdrop for the late, warm light in the trees."

Fun sequence of shots. That three legged one is interesting. Second to last 'ghost deer' is my fave.

I've seen some apple trees but jimmany cricket...What do you feed that thing, steroids?

Actually, it seems to thrive on neglect? All we do is pick the apples in the Fall. The ones that the birds get to first, we leave for the deer, or whatever gets there next.

Wow Thats alot of deer , the most I have had in my backyard was 4 licking and eating all the suet bird food and wiped out 4 fruit feeders .

I'm surprised that more people haven't posted yet. There has to be more than two of us with scavenger shots.

Okay, I'll play, see if we can bump this back up. Here is my nemesis, although he rarely troubles his little self with the cover of darkness before he empties a feeder or two.

It is an Australian Brushtail Possum.

Great shot, it almost looks like he's laughing at you ("I'm gonna empty your feeder and what're you gonna do about it?")

Dang, I'd take an Australian Brushtail Possum over my garden variety possum.

Is it wrong to consider putting up a bird feeder just to get pictures of birds and squirrels? I know that isn't wrong, but is it wrong when you have three outdoor cats living at your house? I'm thinking like 8 foot high on a metal pole so the cats can't climb, but I'd think it'd almost be torture for them.

I don't see any difference in that & them looking out the window or looking up in a tree?
