Do you have Trader Joe's stores near you? If so they sell really good yellow and red curry sauce in a bottle. Add veggies and meats (if you want) over rice and you are eatin good.

The biggest difference between indian and thai is that the thai has a lot more coconut milk so it's more like soup than gravy.

Southern India uses a lot of coconut, rice and chillies...northern india does not usually use any coconut milk for anything. And it isn't as "hot" either.
