I couldn't really find the specific answers so I hope this isn't redundant.
I have also emailed Think Tank and their reply was not 100% clear.

I want to know from people with experience if the Urban Disguise 30 can fit an XSi with battery grip attached and 24-105 lens mounted? Would it also be able to fit the above with a tripod plate attached to the battery grip as well?
I know that this bag would also be able to fit my other lens and 430ex flash, but I mainly wanted to know if it could fit the camera with battery grip.
Thanks

I put my 5D with L-plate straight down into the bag with a 24-105. I can even fit it just fine with a 70-200L f/4 or a 100-400L. The 70-200 f/2.8 is just slightly too tall to make the bag close right. I often fit a 580exII on the left interior, a 5D w/ 24-105 straight down in the middle, and the 70-200L f/4 on the right interior.

Basically my camera from hotshoe to base of the bracket is about 5". I don't think anything larger will fit. There is plenty of width, and the bag is deep. However, its kind of tight. A 5D with a grip is 6.5" with an L-plate. (and 6.75" wide) That is a VERY tight fit. Measure how tall your camera is. Anything more than about 5.5 - 6" will get annoying if you need to remove the camera often.

You might want to go for the UD40 if you are bigger. However, I am guessing that even the XSi with a grip and L-plate is smaller than a 5D with grip and L-plate.

It got annoying so I sold my grip and now use the 5D with just a standard L-plate.
