Hi all,
I need comment and advice please. I'm still very new in photography, I took this photo with Cybershot F-77 (Sony 4MP Point and shoot). I was playing with photoshop and I think I made mistake on colour saturation, but then I accidentally save the file and to my horror it was my only photo. However when I posted this photo to a number of site, almost all the comment is on this photo and they like it eventhough I thought its a messed up photo. Also the photo that I is good, other people don't really commented it.

So I need advice why people like this one so I learn why. Thanks for the advice all.

Nice composition, good saturated colors, background is just a little blue for my tastes. Guess you learned your lesson about backups too. Mark images as read only so you can't save over the top of them too.

I've failed to make copies myself. The good news is that you only make that mistake once and you'll never forget it. Anyway, I'm new to this myself but looking at the pic, great shot. The subject matter is breath-taking. However, I agree with tim the blue background could be a bit distracting. Make a copy first then try to dull the mountains.

I think the higher than normal horizon line and many diagonal leading lines help you to look at the depth of the picture. I agree the background is to blue.

Thanks for the input guys, with the blue mountain you mean I should blur it and make it whiter?

No, don't blur it-the detail is what makes it great, just adjust the saturation a bit.

an outstanding photo composite. they both blended well together. Maybe drift a bit of fog over to the other.

Way, way too much saturation for me. So the first thing I'd do is cut the saturation by 30%, then see what I've got to work with after that. Theres also a bit of noise to deal with.

Yep, thats what I feel too.. too much saturation but what I don't understand, although I think this photo is kind of "messed" but from my gallery for some reason this photo get more attention then my other photo which I thought better than this one

I think that's the nature of web sites and surfers. I read or heard somewhere that a website has one second to grab someones attention!

Anything that grabs attention is bound to be bright, even garish. No one just browsing will be attracted to the subtle image, sadly.

My own collection reflects this. The most popular according to the sites analysis is not my personal favorite by any means.

hmm you are right! those two point in bold just make me realise. I guess a bright, saturated photo will attract more eventhough its not natural looking photo. that kinda linked to first point i think. yeah, for me I like natural looking photo even if its subtle and calm. I like photo that is untouched from editing but then again I guess those kind photo won't attract people (majority).

personally I love the colour composition. Love the shade and light under the tree. Shame you lost the original but this is very cool!

The photo makes me think Science Fiction. In fact the New Zealand connection is very apt, because in fact my first thought was "Lord of the Rings".

Sort of how life might have evolved on another planet!
