50D and astrophotography?

Has anyone here used the 50D for astrophotography? Prime and eyepiece projection are mainly what I'm curious about. How was the experience?

I've had some decent results using my XTi for through-the-telescope shots, but focusing without a stiletto is nightmarish. My wife wants a 50D, and it suddenly struck me that the Live View function might be a godsend for me. Thoughts?

Use the liveview. 10x. Pick Vega. Or sirius. And be sure to have a good adapter that won't vignette.

Thanks. I've got an old Meade t-mount adapter and tube assembly that's worked fine with my XTi, so vignetting isn't a problem (at least not with a crop body).

So the Live View works well for this? I'd hoped so. I've been working with Hartmann masks on my scope, but the XTi viewfinder is just too dim to get precise focus.
