Decided to get myself an early x-mas present and spend a little piece of my bonus. Bought a Shun Classic 8" Chefs Knife. Let me know what you think.

Tried again tonight with this trying to get the lines of the steel to show a little more.

Did you use a CPL on this to make the stress lines more visible or do these particular knives come looking like this?

Either way, cool shot. Maybe find a way to backlight the handle just a bit so it doesn't just vanish into the abyss...?

No CPL. They are very visable they just show up more depending on how the light hits the blade. I also do not beleive they are stress lines. They are the result of the folding of the metal when it was made. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Damascus_steel (external link)

The handle is almost black so it diapears rather easily. Im having trouble getting it exposed and not blowing out the blade.
