I've had my 40D & 24-105 f4 for about three weeks now and only in the last couple of days have I had the opportunity to get out at sunset.

Anyway would love to hear your C&C.

Photography is a pretty new gig for me, I normally do event videography which hopefull helps with things.

How's the composition/framing?

I think it works but that's me I guess, am I on track?

Cheers
Darren

You betcha. Nice soft colors, good composition, horizon nice and straight -- can't do much better than that.

Composion is spot on. I'm not as happy with the colors (colours :D) but that's a prefference thing. I'm not a fan of pastels and this getting close to a black and white. I this case it is probably just a matter of getting there earlier to get some of those brighter colors (colours). But if this is the color sceme that you where going for then again you are spot on. Great picture non-the-less.

Thanks for the grammatical correction ;), and other comments.

I have a six year old daughter who absolutely loves pink & purple, and she said that it was really beautiful, especially the colours, so I can't argue with that!!!! But I do get your point. I will try at different times to see what it looks like, maybe an early sunrise (4:30am) hhhmmmm maybe not!!!

Cheers Darren:)

A great shot, especially if just starting. I really liked the colors in the image. You might try going back when there is some interesting cloud cover in working with that. The subject matter of the building doesn't really do it for me personally. Maybe try using the same concept and going for a similar look but with a more interesting subject.

Actually I'm not correcting anything... I just like to add (colours) in here to make our UK bretheren happy... We here America like to spell it "colors" and they like to spell it "colours". Both are correct just depending on where you come from. You can spell it coloures for all I care :D. Like I said, for me... it's more of a preference to see colors (it makes me laugh everytime I spell that word now) more saturated and bold, but this is still a great shot. I'm glad that you daughter love it, and no you can't argue with that!
