Couple questions about 580EX II Flash.

Why when I pull out Catchlight at 90 Degree everything on the flash LCD is blinking then I had to pull Flash Head it to 0 Degree then everything stop blinking? Is it mean defective? or it desire that way?

One more noob question, if i turn Flash Head to 0 Degree the Flash Bounce icon alway blinking on the LCD? Is this normal functioning? On instruction manual it say Master Flash: Off and if I pull the Flash Head up to 1 click the Icon disappear.

To answer the first question;
push the wide-angle diffuser all the way back into the flashhead, it must contact a switch inside - the LCD will stop blinking.

Next, the flash head has a -7 degree setting for very close subjects
(1.5-6.5 ft). Pull up on the flash head until it locks - LCD will stop blinking!
