I just sold my canon xti to a friend who knows nothing about cameras. The problem is the software that came with the disc ie DPP and zoombrowser is for xp and not vista. They have vista installed on their computer.

Can i install the new software that comes with my new canon 40d which will be compatible with vista and will xti work with it or will i have to go onto canon download site to download new version?

It works on vista (400d/XTi owner and vista x64 user)

However! You must install from the cd's then download the updates from canon. You can't download the whole program from canon, its just updates. The only thing that does not work is the RAW codec for vista (only works on 32bit which your friend probably has) Even thats not an issue, you can still use raw you just don't see thumbnails for them in windows explorer.

You should get the updates for the software that came with your 40d also, its over a year old now, thats a long time in the software world.
