I haven't seen any recent MK III discussions lately and wondering if all the bugs are out and if the people buying these now are satisfied.

Nope, it still explodes when you take a picture without saying outloud "mother may i". In all seriousness, mine works great, and i've heard a lot of positive things, so i'm guessing yes.

I suck at Photoshop.

There will ALWAYS be dissatisfied buyers no matter how good a camera is. But, yes, it's fixed. Has been for a looooong time. That's why you don't see too many whiny MK3 threads anymore.

Oh geeez, glad I read this. I just took my MkIII out of the box and am waiting (VERY IMPATIENTLY) for the battery to charge.!!!

I "shutter" to think what would have happened if I pushed the button without the magic words.

I have a 55xxxx model which I purchased refurbished. You may have it if you can pry it out of my cold dead hands. It is a very good camera. Image IQ is fanatastic and I have had zero issues with the autofocus. I am delighted with my Mark III which was an upgrade from the 30D. The 30D gathers dust as a backup - what a waste!

I bought a second hand Mk3 as well that was in the recall range, no yellow dot or anything. Called Canon up to inquire about the sub-mirror fix and they said it had received the fix so I bought it from the store and tacked on a 3 year warranty. I've been absolutely gob-smacked at the performance of the Mk3 in contrast to my 40D on all aspects.

There's no going back now :)

There used to be Canon gear here but it disappeared.

I also have a pre-any-dot 1DMKIII that had the sub-mirror fix done and been enjoying it for almost a year now. It's a great camera.

I noticed - even after the sub-mirror fix - that the 1DM3 did not perform as well as my 1DM2 when it came to autofocus performance in AI Servo mode.

This became painfully obvious to me when I had a second shooter with me at a motorsports event this summer. He was using my 1DM2, and I was using the (post sub-mirror assembly fix) 1DM3. We were each using Canon EF 70-200/2.8 L lenses (non-IS version). Together, we shot over 5000 images that day. My motorsports event workflow is to sort each photo by competitor number (usually a visible number on a car or motorcycle), so it's necessary to look at each image we shoot.

After looking at a couple thousand photos from each camera, I am convinced that the 1DM2 nailed the focus on a substantially higher percentage of images than the "fixed" 1DM3.

Sounds like everyone is well pleased except for TAZorich and it looks like you have gone all Nikon. I am considering selling my MK IIN or trading it in on the MK III and just making sure most users are very satisfied.

This should really be on auto deletion list. Search for the older threads.

@TAZorich, the 1dmkiii is not supposed to work exactly like the 1dmkii, and this does cause some people to get less shots. From my experience, the 1dmkiii is much better than the 1dmkii in focusing, especially if you use RoF. For once, it's actually a good thing to use, working as advertised and with a very low rate of error.

No problems here after 3 days of ear-to-ear grins! However, I took it to Canon today to have the sensor cleaned and shutter count. What was weird, prior to taking it my firmware version just read 1.2.3. Now it reads 1.2.3 C6.8A.30. WTF?

I have a superb one, 56xxxx series. No problems so far. I wish everyone would have the same luck / level of satisfaction as I did with this gorgeous camera.

It ain't fixed and Canon knows it ain't fixed. All that has happened is that people have grown tired of complaining.

Word on the street is they've bought something else. If we look at the sales reports from Canon and Nikon, it probably was not another Canon.

One interesting point about people complaining, by and large they are passionate, deeply caring and fanatically loyal to their brand ~ when complaints stop, it simply means people aren't any more, the nature of the beast is to continue to look for perfection, when complaints stop they are no longer looking.

Why, usually reveals they've moved on to something else.
