Hey all, i am an avid Football Traveler. I have attended 27 San Francisco 49ers games in last 2 yrs including all 16 last year. It started as just a leisurely fun thing. Now i am getting more and more into photography.

I have a Canon Digital Rebel XT with your standard 75-300 lens. Let me know what you think

Issac Bruce TD ( i was in the other endzone so this pic was like 100+ yds away)

Keep in mind i am an amateur, i dont really have photoshop skills yet. I had my friend edit them for me. I am going to take a few college courses in the near future.

Thanks in advance

Jesse

Were you trying to attach it, or host it at another site and then post it? I see no picture at all, and not even any code in the post. Normally if it's a problem with the hosting website, code would show up if I tried to quote the post, but I"m seeing absolutely nothing.

Jesse, I tried to fix your first link & it leads to a shot of mountains? The second appears to be the same image.
Before you use an image in PB, see if your mouse cursor has a + sign. If it does, click to get the real sized image. Rt-click & use "Copy Image Location" to get the link.

First shot isn't bad, but could use some work. my only real problem with it, is the glare.

The second one, I think a longer lens would have benefited, wider aperture as well. I can't tell where your subject is. The BG is extremely distracting.

I was able to get some pretty decent football shots using my 70-200. So I would assume you can get some more shots using what you got. Keep on shooting!

thanks for the critique. I kinda liked the glare on Gores facemask myself but i can see where your going.

ya being that i was sitting in my seat, i could only do so much with the 2nd pic. I was thinkin bout doing it in black and white. Kinda would make like a nice 16x20 old school type pic.

No, that's two attached images by the OP per thread, OR 8 embedded (linked) images, or a combination of both totaling 8. (Maximum 1024 pixels on any side.) You can always just post a link to more, though, or better yet, post a link to a gallery so we don't have to click on each image link.
Some exceptions are "Show Me...", "Post your best...", equipment reviews, Tutorials, etc.

On the first one darken the glare on the face mask so it looks like a shadow. That would be less distracting. Make it a vertical crop and raise the bottom up closer to the elbows. The way it is now there is too much empty on the sides and it is cut off too close to the hands. Next time try to get the hands in the shot if possible.

On the second shot, your horizon is not level. That's easy to fix in PS and really shows up when it is wrong. But the main problem with this shot is that the action was just too close to the other sideline and your depth of field was too deep to isolate you subject. So there is no saving this shot. How many shots do you average in a game? Is this one the best of the bunch?

1st shot has potential....like the other posters have said, the glare on his face mask is distracting. Try to get a full body shot, or as previously stated, get the hands in too. You want to avoid cutting off the appendages.

2nd shot could work if it was a panoramic style shot of the crowd, taking Bruce and that damned patriot out all together (please dont bash me pat fans). As is you need a longer lens to capture the play and the players and a shllower DOF. Try to straighten up the horizon line of the field too. the angle leads you out of the shot

Nice stuff though...keep the camera up and show us more =)

It's nice to know that my ineptitude in the darkroom transfers over to the digital world...
