Amber, yeah, 6 hour drive is slightly far, haha! I'll make another trip sometime and make sure to add that to my itinerary. Thanks for the tip!

Hey All,
Garland here. Pretty new to the website and photography but I'm enjoying the learning process. Does anyone get together for any local events? I would definitely be up for that.

I've been here for coming up on two years now but just started exploring. Dallas Aquarium is an awesome place for photographers and more than an aquarium.

The Dallas zoo as well and for Jan and Feb the cost has been greatly reduced.

gjl711, good idea on the aquarium, been a while since I've been down there. Been in a bit of a rut with nature photography lately with everything still very dormant and gray-brown around here.

Anyone been to both the Dallas and Fort Worth zoos? How does the FtW one compare?

Ft Worth zoo is much better. While over there, swing by the botanical gardens as well. Both rate as excellent. Too bad I didn't join POTN sooner, just moved to MI after 11 years in Carrollton.

Canon 600D, Canon 350D - Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L, Canon 40mm f/2.8 STM Pancake, Canon 100mm f/2.8 USM - Kit lenses not worth mentioning.

I'll definitely have to go then. I was pretty impressed by the Dallas Zoo. Small but very photogenic.

I keep an eye out but never see any meet ups on here. I'm right at the Richardson/Garland border so fairly close to you. Let me know if you run across any get togethers or PM if you have any questions on the area.

Sad... I still get reminders for this thread even though I'm no longer in Texas.

I do have some big travel plans coming up, so I hope to be back in DFW around January next next year. I am planning several night photography workshops in the area. I'll keep ya'll posted.

Sounds great, Todd...I didn't get a chance to go to any of your night work shops when you lived here. Def keep me posted on when you'll be back in the area.
