The knowledgeable and talented Noel Carboni has created a set of (two) Photoshop actions which, while they cannot prevent the black dot phenomenon, will do a fine job of removing them in post-processing.
Noel has been kind enough to post these actions at no charge for members at the Pro Photo Home site (http://www.ProPhotoHome.com (external link)).

If you read the discussion thread about this issue in the forum there, you'll find that Noel offers a very sound technically-based explanation for the appearance of the black dots. However, there is some speculation about whether this is a(nother) quality control issue for Canon, as it does not seem to affect all 5DM2 bodies.

I posted this in the other (very long) thread here on POTN, but I hate to bury news of the Photoshop actions on the 65th page of a thread about such an important issue. Please pardon the double post effect, but I thought the availability of the actions warranted a new thread.
