Mom ordered 125. You may recall this one from a week or so ago. Levels were boosted, skin softened.

The skin *might* be a touch oversoftened in this one as well, but its going to be a matter of personal opinion...I know someone (who's away this weekend or I'd drag her over here) who would tell you that the softening is perfect. I'll bet the Mom is really happy with her images! Blog

Dec 19, 2008 23:09 | #4 This mom looked at the original and thought the skin was too blotchy. It is funny too because my wife HATES it when I soften her photos, even if it is at an extremely low threshold and opacity. I normally dont want to do this to babies at all, but with the acne, blotchiness, etc, A little goes a long way (I guess).. EOS 7D, 40D plus primes.....

It almost looks like someone is holding underneath a black blanket? I don't mind the skin softening. In fact, I think you could have softened a bit more. Frank

The arms still look a bit blotchy and the face looks a teeny, tiny bit too smooth to me. But, I'm nitpicking. It's a cute shot! Sevilla: I knew it. I thought doodles was talking about you... I'll answer the softening below.. azpix wrote in post #6930946 what did you do to soften the skin? This was a very low threshold adjustment via Portraiture (and reduced further via opacity). The downside of this plugin is that it really touches all skintones in the same manner. Plus, it was a tradeoff to get the skin blotches reduced (but not eliminated), w/o overprocessing the face. Also, while it may look a tad bit overdone on the face, at 72dpi, I dont think you can get a feel for the absolute detail that remains in the image. The original looks (and prints) fantastic. The upside, it is one of the quickest and easiest ways to get very good smoothing (IMO - and many will differ on this as it is a PLUGIN). But again, time is money with client proofs.. Kristy wrote in post #6932360 It's adorable. On my monitor it appears underexposed.. and baby looks quite yellow.QUick curves adjustment and saturation adjusted for the yellows..? With non-color managed browsers these days.. I have no idea if what I see is different than what you see... But hopefully you don't mind the quick adjustment. It still looks pretty yellow in the skin tones... but maybe baby is a bit jaundice? Kristy - I dont mind edits, I'm interested in seeing what others do - like how you were able to bring up the skin tones w/o blowing out the hat. However, on my calibrated monitor, and off the profiled printer, this is the skin tone of the baby. Side by side, identical. Perhaps squashing it to sRGB has played a part in this.
