I do research about M42, so which is the best lens between Carl Zeiss Jena Sonnar 135mm f3.5 MC and 135mm f2.8 MC PENTACON PRAKTICAR PB BAYONET TELE LENS? If come with mount M42. In ebay, someone buy AF mount M42 for Canon EOS, is that true? Do you have any pictures taken by these lenses?

I don't have any pictures taken with these lenses, but yes, you can use an M42 mount lens on a Canon EOS...all you need is an M42/Canon EOS adapter that's readily available on ebay. I use similar appropriate adapters to shoot with Leica, Zeiss, and Olympus lenses on my 5D. Here's what an Olympus 28/2.8 looks like on a Canon EOS:

Lots of fans of the Zeiss 135/3.5 but I think the Pentacon 135/2.8 pre-set (15 blades) is better. Look at my gear list if you are interested in other M42 lenses.

Make sure you understand that these lenses are manual focus and no mount can make them Auto Focus. You can buy an M42-EOS mount adaptor with AF-Confirmation chip, but they don't work 100% and only help light up the AF-points - the lens will always be Manual Focus only.

The Pentacon has plenty of fans, as does the Sonnar. It will come down to which one you really want and how much you want to spend.

Yes, i know every M42 use Manual focus.
In ebay, someone sell with 54 USD for 135mm f2.8 MC PENTACON PRAKTICAR PB BAYONET TELE LENS, and current bid for Carl Zeiss Jena Sonnar 135mm f3.5 MC is 54 USD. Which is the best?

I own the Pentacon Preset 135mm and it is wonderful. It isn't called the bokeh monster for nothing ;)

Though I don't usually point people at other forums (and you will certainly get helpful replies here) you might want to take a peek at http://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/board/55 (external link) . You do have to register but the FM guys have a wealth of knowledge with 'other' lenses. There are also M42/manual lens forums out there if you want to do some hunting via google. I swear I'm going to get me a lathe and see how hard it is to convert some FD lenses to EF, I have a friend who has a pile of lenses sitting in a closet who has some beauties (55 1.2 SSC/85L 135/2) in FD mount that Id love to be able to use once I get my 5D.

If i am not mistaken ... I have never seen a PB/PRAKTICA conversion adaptor.
Try to stick with M42, C/Y, Olympus, Nikon mounts ... these adaptors are common and inexpensive.

Go for Sonnar, an incredible lens, sharp corner to corner and amazing bokeh!

Having read these posts the last couple days, I went and ordered an M42-EOS adapter. I'll try it out one of my favorite-ever lenses, the 50mm f1.4 SMC Takumar.

Too bad I sold the rest of my SMC lensed about 5 years ago. I just may have to start collecting them again.

You are incorrect. They just aren't common or cheap.

Nice found!
However, the expensive mount seems to kill off the meaning of using cheap Praktica lenses. Better just to sell the Praktica lenses and get other ones!

Thanks nureality! That's mean, no adapter cheaper than that?
