580EX II or EF 24-105L f/4 IS USM for Christmas?

Which one would you choose? A brand spankin new 580EX II flash or a used 24-105 Lens for Christmas?

You already got a flash how about some L glass.

It depends what you already have and what you are going to do with. A gift for me? Both please

I would say the 580EX II is to get more creative lighting and the 24-105 would be just to improve my IQ... I want both, but I don't have the money for both

Go with the glass.........awesome lens. It's on my camera ALOT more than my flashes

If you're content with your current flash, I'd get the glass.

I bought mine and love it on my 40D, it doesnt leave it much.

It depends. How often do you use your lighting? How often would you use the lens?

Prioritize based on usage first. I am guessing the lens would be more likely used camera gear.

There's not a huge difference between the 580II or the 430, so unless you really want two flashes I would go for the lens!

That 24-105 would fit real nice in your glass arsenal. A 580exll is cheap enough to save up for in no time. Would also fit real nice with your 430 & st-2e & lot's of fun (can also drive ya crazy)...............t​ough call

Are you looking to do off camera flash ala Strobist? Then I'd say get the L, then a cheaper flash like the Vivitar 285 or something. However, I've read in various forums that the 24-105 does not particularly perform all that well on crop cameras. I myself have experienced exactly this after I switched from the 40D to the 5D.

Lens is always the better choice.

I say go with the glass...you'll love it!
