Dec 20, 2008 22:06 | #4 Permanent banI would say the 580EX II is to get more creative lighting and the 24-105 would be just to improve my IQ... I want both, but I don't have the money for both -=Armada=-

A 580exll is cheap enough to save up for in no time. Would also fit real nice with your 430 & st-2e & lot's of fun (can also drive ya crazy)...............tough call You can check out any time you like....,but you can never leave. 40D, 24-105 f4LIS, 70-200 f4LIS[COLOR=black],100 f2.8LIS macro, Sig 50mm f1.4 , Sig 10-20 , 580EXll ,430EX, ST-E2, S2IS

Then I'd say get the L, then a cheaper flash like the Vivitar 285 or something. However, I've read in various forums that the 24-105 does not particularly perform all that well on crop cameras. I myself have experienced exactly this after I switched from the 40D to the 5D. https://www.dpreview.com/galleries/0905085063
