Apart from the obvious comment about catching cold sat on top of a mountain, I cannot disagree with your thinking.

We all tend to look at the eyes when viewing a portrait, so these have to give the brain enough visual clues that it thinks "thats sharp". Note that I did not say that the eyes have to ACTUALLY be sharp, but the image must fool the viewer into believing it.

Thats what Depth of Field is all about after all. Same thing.

I am still playing with a new A3+ printer. It's still my new toy! I am printing images taken years ago that I'd assumed would not stand up to being seen bigger than A4, sometimes less than that. I have been amazed to find out that I have not yet had a single image that has failed the A3+ test.
