Hot women do not care if your Corvette has a manual or auto transmission. 99% of Corvettes are driven to attract or impress hot women.....

Thats a nice lil S197 Sixer! That or its a De-Fogged, de-badged GT :P

I am seeing smoke off both tires so its either a GT (At the start of a burn out or with rock hard tires with 4000000000000000 tread wear :O ) or a sixer with a Posi, probably a True Trac for the ol 7.5" diff.

Also what rims are those? Saleens? Nice size offset :)

That was my 12 second V6... ;)

Yeah, True Trac in the 7.5... And those were cheapy Saleen knock-offs... actually they were pretty light... The car is gone but I still have the website for it up: www.v6john.com (external link).

This kind of thing happens all the time. I think back to my childhood. My dad always did a big Halloween set-up in the garage, lit with industrial black lights. Cars would drive by, stare, and then pull in the driveway, headlights shining, and ruin the effect. Think about the sporting events you have seen on TV - flashes going off in the stands when shooting the field. The bottom line is that you need to understand photography to be a photographer. Just having the equipment does not make you a photographer. I have parents ask me all the time why their sports shots aren't as good as mine, when they bought the same equipment. They have no clue what an f-stop is or shutter speed. They just thought the equipment made the photos good, and I was just a bystander pushing a button on occasion. That's just the way of the world.

Sorry to hear its gone. I love being the underdog by having a sixer.

The wifes 96' has a 2000 3.8 in it that I worked over quite a bit.
Here is the mod list and you can hear its open exhaust here. www.Youtube.com/CrainRacing (external link)

It sounds kinda bad though because I used a P&S to record it, when I get my 5DII and external mic I will take a much better vid.

*Ported heads, runners only, no bowl work, no unshrouding of the valves (done by me.)
-Doubled the exhaust port size, port matched the intake side as the intake already flows Awesome because it is a splitport design -Dual runners-
*Ported and port matched upper and lower intake. (me agian)
*Modified 96' wiring harness to use EV6 injectors from 99+ mustangs. (me yet again)
*96' Shorty headers
*Modified 94/95 GT BBK O/R X-pipe
*Borla mufflers (Dumped)
*65mm Tb
*Mac 73mm MAF and CAI kit - Streight Shot- (Had a modified BBK on in the video)
*Custome VMP tune via XCal-II tuner.
*00' 21lbs fuel injectors

I didnt get to do everything I wanted to because we ran low on cash.
I would have liked to change the cam, lifters and rockers while everything was out but I didnt have the cash :(

There is still a lot left to build on but right now it beats S197's with CAI's :P
Havnt had it dynoed yet, but its quick even though it still has the crappy 1 legger 2.73 diff.

And after that, only one of two things can happen. Either they ditch it, since they now know that they actually have to put in effort to take good pictures, or they will start reading and trying different things to learn to take better pictures.

People who go with the first route are like that with just about anything. They want awesome results with very minimal effort.

I'm not the best out there. I'm not even one of the million best out there.

Ya sure could have fooled me.

You told me you were, out of a million, the nine-hundred-ninety-nine-thousand-nine-hundred-ninety-ninth best photographer out of a million. And to think, I believed you, man. :(

I'll bet if you had that cap for the 2x tc, you'd be even better, perhaps in the eight-hundred-thousand range, like me.

Ed, congrats on your new camera! Don't be self-conscious. Enjoy! Also, no green box on on the 1DsMkIII, how will you ever use it?

there either seems to be more of this gear envy going on or maybe i'm just self-conscious because i recently got the 1ds mark III .... which btw does not have a green box :D.

a third result is they could just be satisfied with the results they are getting :D.

I think that the actual topic of this thread was lost like two pages ago, but I just stumbled upon it. I had a similar thing happen to me that I found quite funny this year. I was shooting varsity football playoffs and a mom came down to me while I was shooting my 1D MkIIn and 70-200 f/2.8 at a night game, and asked me why she couldn't pause the action.

Unfortunately she was shooting a Nikon so I wasn't familiar with the settings, but I did notice that she was shooting in "sports" or the Nikon equivalent, and was using an f/4-5.6 lens. So I started to ask her what shutter speed she was acheiving and she just looked at me with that blank stare like "What are you talking about?" I explained the manual mode functions and tried to get ISO and aperture to her but we were in the middle of the game so it couldn't happen.

The next week she came up to me and it turns out that she had gone online and found different help articles about manual, she still couldn't quite pause the action, but she taught herself how to boost the ISO, and work her aperture to get faster shutters.

Moral of the story, you can hint to someone about what to do, maybe they will go find out for themselves.

I can tell you why most P/S users that I know buy a DSLR. It's 100% because of shutter lag and FPS. One thing I also notice is they probably have small kids. If you have small kids you know what I mean. It is often impossible to get them to smile at the correct time and a P/S just doesn't cut it. A DSLR can shoot huge numbers of exposures in a short amount of time (compared to P/S) and this huge number is often needed to get one good shot of your kid or a group of kids. P/S just isn't able to do this. If you have a fast lens you don't need flash, either. You can turn off the flash and most of the time it's OK, even at a slower shutter speed. Moms and dads who have no clue figure this out quickly. Flash tends to be extremely distracting to some kids. I can shoot mine all day without a flash but as soon as the flash goes off everything changes.

This world would be a much better place if people would spend a little less time worrying about others and a little more time worrying about themselves. :)

Oh look another one of "those" threads..

Well, my initial reaction to this was "so what". However, now that i've though about it for a while, my reaction is now...so what?

I really couldn't care less if someone goes out and buys a 1DSMK3, sticks a 600F4L on the end of it and uses it as a door stop. If that's what they want to do with their money, good for them :)

Not a doorstop, but have you seen this?
