Totally unrelated to photography I know, but I don't play in any other forurms. Does anyone know if discs for Playstation can make it thru airport security scanners unharmed? Have one for a gift, don't want it in checked, far too easy to steal. Its a Playstation 3 game. Anyone?

I have taken discs through airports on numerous occasions. It will be fine.

If it isn't taped to a gun, you should be ok.

No worries. I've carried game discs and even a console through security before. You definitely feel a bit childish ;)

Airport scanners have such a low radiation charge that you could send a small fluffy puppy through without any adverse effect.

Seriously though, anything can be passed through a security scanner, otherwise there would be notices up about it.

You can carry full size game consoles through TSA screening checkpoints, as well as foreign airport security check points.

The airport checkpoints do require that full-size game consoles be removed from your carry on baggage.

You can find out the five specific items that must be removed from carry on baggage here:

I have taken my spine through airport scanners, and the discs seems to be a bit dodgy these days, hahaha, only joking:D on the serious note, discs are not like memory cards, they are more sensitive to the scanners themselves, but not to say they will fail after being taken through a scanner. Discs are permanent forms of backup/storage/mediums, so therefore won't succumb to the daily grind of life

That saying, they won't last the full 100 years as quoted by some dubious manufacturers said so
