There has been a lot of various threads about this H-IPS display. I thought maybe we could consolidate some of our collective knowledge on this display, for example where we bought it, how much, what kind of calibration, etc...

Anyway, I got mine in late October, from TechData, delivered, for just a bit over $600 US.

I currently have a Spyder Pro 2. Calibration is ok, but not as "spot on" as I think it should be. I need to start looking for a new calibrator that can handle this wide gamut display better.

I just got my last Thursday. I bought it from Amazon, price was $623, decided I wanted an easy return path if needed.

Last year I bought a Lacie 320 that turned out to be defective, and Lacie warranty replacement was fantastic, they shipped out a new monitor with a prepaid FedEx label, it was as painless as could be. I just wanted to have an easy avenue for replacement if needed. I live in Seattle so I had to pay $55 in sales tax, but it was worth the piece of mind.

So far I am very happy with the monitor, I gave it a quick calibration with the Lacie Blue Eye Pro calibrator, but need to spend a little more time and get it right. That said, the monitor is very nice, great contrast and the colors are great. You can't go wrong for the price. While the Lacie has a slightly better image, when you consider the price and size advantage of the HP it is pretty hard to beat.

I'm curious how you've determined that the calibration is off?

While it's not exactly a "scientific method", prints made from both my notebook, and my old BenQ TFT display were much closer to what I was seeing on my screen.

Now, my prints seem slightly "dull" compared to what I'm seeing on screen with the HP. I wish I knew someone local that had either a Spyder 3, or an Eye1Display2, etc... so I could test it out for myself before I drop more $$$ on another calibrator.

Wished I was closer. I have the eye1display2 you could use so I could see the results. I can afford this monitor. The next level up is something I can't justify. Have a very old 19" CRT I want to replace. This monitor is a good(I hoped) option. What to do, what to do????

I am considering this monitor as well. I am currently using a old 19 inch CRT that is very accurate color wise. I also play games as well. Will this monitor be a good choice for editing and gaming? I wil also, buy a calibrator so need suggetions there as well.I am running Vista 64 bit with a GTX 260 video card and 8 gigs of ram.

Thanks for the input!

Happy Holidays!

I got mine two weeks ago and I calibrated it with Spyder 3 (Elite) and using it with Vista 32-bit. Note to Spyder 2 users: you should not use Spyder 2 with this monitor. Use Spyder 3 instead, since it can handle wide-gamut monitors well. Spyder 2 can't.

It is excellent monitor. Left side is a little bit greenish, but it doesn't really matter that much. Now my only hope is that my favourite web browser* gets really soon color management capabilities. Web looks awful when not using Firefox (or Safari).

Oh and the six port USB-hub is REALLY handy.. ;)

I just got one a couple weeks ago too. Awesome monitor. I got an LUT calibration file over at [H]ardforum. It looks perfect.

Great for gaming too.

I got mine right off of HP's website for $624 shipped.

I bought it from Finland: http://www.jimmspc-store.fi/ (external link) Paid 578 euros, including shipping (about 807 USD @ current rate).

I could have found it cheaper abroad, but warranties and such are much easier to handle with domestic dealer. Fast delivery was another factor for me. I ordered it monday and got my hands on it wednesday.

I am considering both the LaCie 320 and the HPLP2475. Is it worth spending the extra $ for the LaCie?

Also curious if The Blue Eye Pro works on a PC or is it Mac only?

I bought mine from Ebay - I forget my final price but I saved a few bucks with the 30% live.com cashback that was going on last month.

Haven't calibrated yet as I have not yet decided which calibration system to use.

I would say in terms of absolute quality the LaCie 320 has a slightly better image quality, but I still haven't taken the time to carefully calibrate the HP, been too busy with the holidays and such.

The HP is a very nice monitor, particularly considering its price, and the size advantage over the 320 is very nice also. The 320 is an excellent monitor, that pretty much goes without saying.

I bought my LaCie a year ago from B&H, the kit with the Blue Eye Pro and hood for $1019 USD, I paid $623 USD for the HP from Amazon. If you don't own a calibration tool you will need to add that to the cost of the HP, which will bring them closer in price. I can't answer if I think it it worth the extra dollars, but I don't think you would be disappointed with either choice.

The Blue Eye software CD lists Mac PPC OS X 10.3.9 or later and Intel OS X 10.4.5 or later.

thanks. I am leaning towards the HP right now but we'll see.
I am thinking of the Spyder3 Studio or Color Munki for calibration as I want to be able to generate printer profiles also.
