Well i just noticed a tiny amount of dust on images with my brand spanking new 5DII, on my old 20D i wouldn't hesitate pulling out my copperhill wet cleaning kit and wiping out those little dust bunnies. But since its my brand new body and a spanking new FF whizbang sensor with fluoride coating etc etc, i'm hesitating... should i be?? I have already tried using auto cleaning, but still no luck with that.

Seems to me you need to change the way you change your lenses if you're getting dust on a camera you could have only had a few weeks (no offense).

Auto-cleaning only 'shakes' the dust off. Also... dust bunnies? In your camera! You mean specks of dust... right? ??? I hope so. ;)

So anyway, why do you feel you need to clean it? Is it affecting your pictures somehow?

I would wait until all the oils/fluids settle. I would then do a cleaning with proper tools.

Well i use alternative lenses, constantly changing them and i live in the desert so it goes without saying that despite how very careful i am no matter which way i attempt to mount my lenses i'm going to run into some issues.

Yeah i mean dust specks, visable from from f/4 stopped to f/16
So anyway its definately undeniably affecting pictures

OIC I forgive you then. :p

I wouldn't worry about cleaning it IMHO. Just be super careful.

Have you tried blowing it out with a rocket blower?

Use a trash as a "clean room" to change the lenses. I take it they are NOT the telephoto (400L+). Put the next and the came in the "clean room" and just swap lens. It might not desert sand, but it will help.

**** also ANY sand found inside or the wheabouts of ANY Canon gear under warranty *** It voids the warranty on the SPOT !!!

Just clean it - you'll have to do it anyway in the future. Why would this be any different than cleaning your 20D sensor (I know the 5DII is new). Seriously, I would not hesitate.

FYI: well i set it all up to clean the sensor, but DOH! battery is at 19% capacity and thats below the 20% threshold allowable for locking the shutter in place for a manual clean!! Considering the fact i have no charger i'm out of luck :(

I am Henry. NOT Hank. And certainly not a length of rope tied in a knot. ;)
My family calls me Hen, but you can call me Chicken. See you out there!
