Does anyone know how this can be done with elements (ver 2) ? Someone did teach me once but it's been so long since ive needed to do this ,i've now forgotten

Hi Ron,

As far as I'm aware, Elements doesn't have the Fade command, but that's ok, I think it's silly anyway. Yes, you can certainly still do the technique.

1. Ctrl J to duplicate your layer.

2. Apply the Median filter as described

3. Change the blend mode of the layer to "Color". This gives the same results as the "fade" method described in the tutorial.

4. Merge layer down.

You're welcome. I find this to be a better way even in Photoshop, because with the other method, I keep forgetting to Fade immediately, and then the opportunity is gone. Not to mention, of course, the ability to add a layer mask and selectively apply your noise reduction if you use the layer method.
