A few shots from this afternoon while I was out enjoying our uncommonly deep snow and learning my new 24mm TS lens. I never did get a duck shot, so the footprints will have to do.

All C&C welcome.

13 second exposure, shot with 10 stop ND and 4 degrees tilt and a bit of shift up.

Shifting up/down - Two landscape shots stitched vertically

Shifting left/right - Two landscape shots stitched horizontally

Tilted 1.5 degrees to get the far footprint in focus at f/5.0

I think that this is a fantastic display of some of the things a tilt shift can do. I think the 24 TS is a future purchase to me. So many possibilities.

I don't know. For me, the first two shots look odd. The area of focus seems to be a small area in the center of the frame with everything else out of focus. The stitched landscape is nice, and the footprints are well done.

Thanks. I wasn't sure about the 24 TS -- I was originally planning on buying the 24 f/1.4 but I got a good deal buying used locally, and I'm glad I bought it. It is sooooo much fun playing around with the tilt/shift functions. Definitely makes you slow down when shooting too.

Thanks for your comments.

That limited area of focus is one of the effects of the tilt function -- the plane of focus is running nearly perpendicular to the sensor, rather than parallel in the first two images. It is often used to create maximum DOF at large apertures, but can be used to limit the DOF as well (as I did). Some people love the look, some don't. I'm not sure if I'm a huge fan yet, but in some cases it will probably work really well to draw attention to a certain part of the scene.

Cool. I had no idea that you could do that with a TnS lens.
