Here's one of my attempts at taking some pictures of my tank. I'm very very open to suggestions and pointers as I just got the camera and am trying everything out.

2 week old 40D, with a 50mm f/1.4 I just picked up today!
I also did a 30% smart sharpen on the pics thinking it would help (couldn't really tell a difference)

I still have the kit lens (18-55 IS) would this be a better choice?

Another planted tank enthusiast! Beautiful tank! I just got a couple lenses today for my used/new 10D, one is the same 50mm you have. So far I am loving it! I need to work on getting some pics of my tank tomorrow. The first pics were no good.
Tanks are so hard to shoot. You did a good job freezing the fish and keeping them sharp. Some of the shots were a little dark. I know it's a PITA to use on board flash but you could give it a shot, just take them at an angle so the flash doesn't bounce right back in to you. I have a couple slave flashes I still need to set up and try for some shots with those.
Are you on any planted tank forums? I'm on APC and TPT, same username. You probably wouldn't have seen me, I have a NPT. :D

Ok, i read wrong, not the same 50mm.
I am having the worst time getting any decent shots. Care to share any EXIF data on your shots? After seeing some of mine compared to yours, yours really are awesome.
Maybe your tank is just brighter than mine? I have a 55gal with 160w. I've gotten the color corrected using K to match my lights for my WB. I may make my way over to APF, post some and see what they have to say.

Nice shots, very colorful. I like the DOF on some of them.

You probably didn't notice the sticky at the top of the forum so I'll put a link here:
