Is there a way to start a continuous frame with just one depression of the shutter button?

I lack a pistol grip for my water housing and would like to be able to relive one arm from the housing after starting the frame capturing and continue swimming. I have not been successful finding this to be possible but was hoping there was an off chance there was...

I'm not exactly sure what you're asking, but if you put the Drive Mode in Continuous it should continue to release the shutter for as long as the button is depressed until the buffer fills.

^ Thanks for helping Mike...
Yes, What i am trying to achieve is pressing it once, for a short time like you were shooting one frame but, then having the camera to continue to fire until it fills its buffer.

I need that hand to return to the water to continue to swim through the wave while the hand that is holding the housing handle( sans release button :( ) out of the wave.

Hit the drive/iso button and move the top dial over until the box with multiple boxes behind it show up (continuous mode).
I believe this is what you're looking for!

Would love to see some of your underwater photos by the way. Also, how much did your housing cost..?

No he's looking for a way to keep the camera shooting once he releases the shutter button. And I've never heard of a way to do it without a remote shutter release with the buttons that locks in place. Not waterproof.

You need to get a remote release. It lets you lock the shutter down (for bulb, or for what you're asking).

I'm not sure how practical that would be for underwater photography, though.

Very good point . I wonder if there's anything you could add to the underwater housing to hold a tethered remote?

^ Yes, the company makes a waterproof shutter grip= "pistol grip" for a deal of a price at 395$.

I was hoping for a cheaper way around it.
Looks like its gonna be trying to fabricate it myself.

Be sure to share pics of your water logged camera after you're done. :)
