My first post on the birds forum. I've always been a bit reluctant to do so as the images I see posted are always so outstanding compared to my own humble efforts.

Anyway here are some of the local forest birds in south Hokkaido taken this Christmas Eve morning..........

A Varied Tit, 2 Nuthatches and a Marsh Tit.

All taken with a 400D and 100-400L.

All are real beauties. #2 and 3 are equivelant to our Nuthatches and the last is a Chickadee. Great work and keep posting, these are excellent and I want to see more little birds. :)

The Nuthatch is the asiatica subspecies of the Eurasian Nuthatch. Marsh Tits look very like several other Tit/Chickadee species. I always preferred "Chickadee" to "Tit" as a bird name. Guess I have a puerile smutty mind........

Tit is a swear word here in Puritan Land, and I always preferred saying tit and getting away with it while watching the shock on all the faces. Titmouse is one of my favorite words. ;)

I can just image what that sends through little American girls minds.

Excellent shots Stu and welcome,

The colorations on that first one is unlike anything we see here, and they're all real sharp and close!

very nice work,

Kenn :)

Hi Stu--nice shots with your 100-400mm L--that will be my next lens. All the images have excellent sharpness and background.

Great bird shots, Stu!

That Marsh Tit looks almost the same as Willow Tit which we can find in Finland, but Marsh Tit not. Learned a lot (external link) more of this nice little bird.
