My parents blew me away and gave me my first dSLR...the Canon 40D. It's the one I've wanted for a year and a half and was saving for! (But had to put off the purchase due to having to have knee surgery.)
It was a kit deal...came with the 28-135 IS USM lens.
I was absolutely...shocked. All I've done up until now is READ about photography. Since Christmas Eve, I've actually been using a REAL camera! 
I've been practicing with the full manual mode, and understand how ISO/Aperture/SS all work together now, and can predict the results (for the most part.) I can't wait to start taking real pictures and posting them for C&C here!
I appreciate all the knowledge that has been shared in this community.
