Holy cow, all I gotta say is " What Recessession?"
Based on what's been listed here so far I think all the hubbub in the news about the economy being in the tank must be rumours or extreme hyperbole.. LMAO...

... oh by hte way Santa brought me 580EX ii for X-mas. ;)

A giant elf in a brown sleigh delivered a 24L II last Monday from Amazon. It was a pleasant surprise, since I didn’t expect it till mid January.

Ive been a bad boy so had to buy 200/2L myself. :(

Wow, that's quite a Xmas present, even if you did get it yourself. How about some pics of it or by it?:)

My son renewed my subscription to Lenswork - quite possibly the absolute best b&w photo magazine around. It inspires me to use the gear I already have.

I very much enjoy Brooks Jenson's podcasts...
took me a bit to warm up to him though. his podcasts are great because the are not tech heavy. I love some of the stuff he finds amusing...

oh and santa(me) brought me an epson 4880 and a roll of premium luster photo paper.

My parents blew me away and gave me my first dSLR...the Canon 40D. It's the one I've wanted for a year and a half and was saving for! (But had to put off the purchase due to having to have knee surgery.)

It was a kit deal...came with the 28-135 IS USM lens.

I was absolutely...shocked. All I've done up until now is READ about photography. Since Christmas Eve, I've actually been using a REAL camera! :D

I've been practicing with the full manual mode, and understand how ISO/Aperture/SS all work together now, and can predict the results (for the most part.) I can't wait to start taking real pictures and posting them for C&C here! :)

I appreciate all the knowledge that has been shared in this community.

There's nothing better than your first real DSLR. Congrats! You're going to have a blast.

I'm looking forward to seeing some of your pics :)
