to keep this thing handheld, you need a shutterspeed of almost 1/8000" at f/14. I don't think that taking a picture of the sun would give enough light for that shutterspeed  Better start saving for a decent flash as well ;)

If you have the resources to get and use this lens, you probably have sufficient resources to move appreciably closer to the sun for better light. Hell, you're probably either a government or a Bond villain. :)

Too bad the minimum focusing distance is 120m, I thought this could be a nice portrait lens. Too bad you need a mobile phone to guide the model :)

It is odd that for all the details and specifications listed the objective diameter is not mentioned. The details are given as a lens (which it is) but by that size he should start describing it a bit more as a telescope where the amount of light it collects is important.

At that focal length, even on FF you'd not get the whole sun in the frame.

I've been saving up for a while, but I've finally taken a plunge and bought it! Now I can photograph the Eiffel tower from my garden in England! Yayness! :D

OK, you can afford it and you get it on a motorized mount on top of your truck. What are you going to use it for? Guess I'm thinking about how much dirty air you are going to be shooting through. Not to mention it doesn't have IS.

It can shoot up to 30-52 kms away......WOW

Too bad it weighs 250 lbs...wonder if RRS tripods are up to the job of designing something to hold THAT beast ;) How the hell would you carry it around? Crane?

And I thought I could show off with big lenses... :(
