Hi all,

I have some trouble with a panorama I shot while I was on vacation through the US last summer. We had a suite at the Trump International Tower on the 57th floor. What a view! I tried to take a panorama for about an hour. Boy, was I disappointed I didn't have a polarizer at that time. The reflections where awful. Here's the stitched panorama:

And a close-up of the Treasure Island sign:

HTTP response: 404 | MIME changed to 'image/gif' | Byte size: ZERO | PHOTOBUCKET ERROR IMAGE

As you can see, due to the reflections of the lights in the window (that's my guess, at least) everything in the photo is "double". I tried googling but I didn't really come up with anything - what is this effect called, if it has a specific name at all? Do you guys think this will be fixable or should I not bother and hit myself for not having a polarizer at that time?

Thanks.

It is how it is. I wouldn't worry about it.

It's probably caused by shooting through double glazing (actually it looks like triple if you look to the left of the "T"). It could have been much worse depending on the angle and a polariser probably wouldn't have helped much.

As for fixing it, an hour or so with the clone stamp and a steady hand should clean it up. There's plenty of clean areas of image to source from.

I honestly didn't notice unless I pixel peeped. Honestly nobody looks that close, anyway, and the only time you'll notice it is when its printed over 16x24".

Looks OK to me. You got the shot - they won't all be perfect.

You do notice that everything is "double" or even "triple" right? Not just the Treasure Island sign. I doubt this could be done in an hour...

Well, my idea was, quite frankly, to have it printed 30"x20". Not fixable for this big of a print, is it?

I'd not worry about it if it were one of mine. Its shot through glass and it will always be what it is.

Without you pointing out that the triple reflection was not meant to be there, I'd have assumed it was completely natural.
