17-55 IS vs. 16-35mm Mark I

Sounds like the 17-55 will fit my needs better. I would like to get a full frame at some point for wider shots, but that will probably be a long ways down the road. There are a couple of great options out there right now for crop bodies on the wide end, so I don't really feel a rush for full frame.

Your 17-55 should sell fairly quickly if you ever do decide to put it up for sale, if you do move towards full frame. Just put a decent to good UV filter on it and those dust issues should never haunt you. ANd you'll be set.
