ChrisStreet parking, very crowded on weekend, but if go early, should find parking... forgot how much though... can find parking at the Waikiki shell, and free. © NorrisLW | Photography

Thanks Norris. When we do the HBL Century Ride we park in that parking lot on the corner of Paki Ave and Monsarrat Ave...might do that and hike to the meet. http://www.flickr.com/photos/samanax/

ChrisI've been wanting to do the Century Ride. Is it hard? I wanted to do it with a fixed gear/single speed setup, but someone told me I'd probably give up when I'm going up koko head. Charlie

I can bring that local staple to every potluck. Sounds good. mergecross wrote in post #7009379 I've been wanting to do the Century Ride. Is it hard? I only ride 25 miles nowadays...I mostly ride it to get the t-shirt. I went 100 miles once and once was enough. I've done the 50 a bunch of times but I feel it takes too long now and I get too tired to do anything else afterwards. The 25 mile is short so it doesn't take long and I can still do lots of stuff the rest of the day. I road the 40 mile once and it was a nice ride...but I prefer doing just the 25 mile now...much shorter and easier on my behind. mergecross wrote in post #7009379 I wanted to do it with a fixed gear/single speed setup, but someone told me I'd probably give up when I'm going up koko head. I rode the last one on a single speed mountain bike and I made it up the steep hill in Hawaii Kai (Heart Break Hill) without getting off even though I hardly rode prior to the event. I saw some guys riding fixed gear road bikes that day too. mergecross wrote in post #7009379 I don't know why, but I can't figure out how to install the rear deraileur. I feel kinda dumb. I can help you with that if you'd like. Do you have all the necessary part? Cables, cable housing, shifters? What kind of shifter do you have? The older friction shifters or newer index shifters? http://www.flickr.com/photos/samanax/
