Those are the winners.
And there is a lot to photograph in Iran. Wildlife, macro, landscapes, those are universal. :)

I know there is, ;) sometimes sarcasm doesnt always come out in writing;)

My guess would be the judges were just playing it safe..trying to stay out from the crosshairs of the religious police if they picked what they really thought should be the winners....at least I hope they were:lol:

EOS 6d, 7dMKII, Tokina 11-16, Tokina 16-28, Sigma 70-200mm F/2.8, Sigma 17-50 F/2.8, Canon 24-70mm F/2.8L, Canon 70-200 F/2.8L, Mixed Speedlites and other stuff.

When it ceases to be fun, it will be time to walk away

It appears that the judges got the winners & losers switched.

Personally I gave up trying to figure out competition results years ago...

I think I was right!

Sorry for the torture. There's some more but I wouldn't want any of you to die.
Overexposure or underexposure + High contrast + black and white = how you can win this stupid contest.
So what do you think?

By the looks of it, I could win something on their photo competition, must change my nationality to that of Iranian (Sorry America, just joking):D

There was this huge photography contest "Iranian national photo biennial". Fancy name right? And the judges were like the "most amazing professors of the best universities". And I'm not kidding. Anyway.
12000 pictures were sent for this contest,
And wanna see the best ones?

I don't think that the winners have been chosen. I'm guessing that the pics shown in this thread are just some of the entries which now makes more sense. This article indicates that the winners will not be chosen until January.

^ Nope.
"Over 2000 photographers submitted about 12,000 works to the secretary of the biennial from which a total of 123 individual photos and 32 photo collections are currently on display at the concurrent exhibitions taking place in Yazd and Tehran, Shaluii mentioned. "

I posted some of the 123 pictures in the first post.

Ay carumba! Were the requirements of the contest that they shoot with a blindfold on?

I'm suprised at how this comp turned out.
Iran is a beautiful country with amazing scenery and architecture.

I agree...
All of them are better than the photos of the winners. Are you sure that they are not winners...

They are so busy try to oppress women and stop western culture they forgot to judge their contest.

I do like the first one of the rug, I'm going to contact the photographer and offer him a cow for a print.
