Seaguls and Pelicans Oh My

Went down to the pier yesterday for a nice xmas day beach walk Took my camera and there was a pelican posing for a rather long time. Few other random gulls were hanging about too. Hope you likes.
All were shot with 70-200 on 1dmkii
1,3 were at 200mm
4,5 were at 95mm
2 was shot at 115mm

Is this California? The pelicans can get pretty tame out there. He looks retired and living off of handouts from fishermen.

It is Cali. Yeah, this pelican hung out there for at least an hour and it just so happend to be right next to the bait shop. I wonder if he got many free handouts.

When I lived in San Diego, aboard my boat, I was at a marina that had a lot of fishing boats at it. And one old Brown Pelican that couldn't fly anymore. The guys on the boats would bring it fish from their runs, that they could not sell. That bird ate better than I did. His best friend was a female Rottweiler and those two would sit in the sun and sleep or groom each other. I wish I had had a camera then. It was the most astounding sight I had ever seen.
