Hi Everyone

Hope all have had a Merry Xmas, I managed to get away for a week and spotted this white faced heron while I was taking some landscapes.

I was a bit slow on the trigger, this shot was just before he landed himself a nice bit of dinner.

What do you think??

Very nice shot... Possibly crop him a bit closer if you could, may bring out more detail... Nonetheless, still a very nice shot...

Ahh yes, much better indeed... Now you got it... Being able to see the bird in it's greatest detail is what you looking for and using the rule of thirds usually works best... This photo depics the bird ready to strike on it's prey...

Sometimes it's nice to see the birds 'surroundings'...I like both images...it's a matter of preference I think. There's no right or wrong presentation. Beautiful image.

Nice shot. this is a new bird for me, although it looks like our Greast Blue Heron.

Thanks for the feedback Duane, I also take your point, it is very subjective and as you say personal preference.

Thanks Canonloader - this is probably Australia's most common heron, but I don't think you guys get this one over there.
