I got bored yesterday & it was only 17 degrees with no wind chill, so I went out after sunset. They were edited on my laptop, so I don't guarantee the density of the images.

I started with this & cut it short when the freakin' farm dogs edged their way up to 50 yards away.

This one gave me some ideas to try the next night if the weather stays livable.

3.

I reshot the location so I could add some tail light flare.

Then I changed the angle when I noticed some 18-wheelers running late.

I was a little steamed before I shot this one. The temperature was supposed to get up 50 after 6PM so I expected fog. I knew of a great bridge with uphill on one side & downhill right on the other side & I thought it would be a good location. Seems that the county has too much money, & when I got there, it had been replaced by a new one without the girders. I went down the road that followed the river & the next three bridges had been replaced, too. Crap! So I settled for another hill & decided to go for something surreal.

Today it's raining. Double crap!

EDIT:
Two more from last night. Can you tell that I couldn't see a bleeding thing? ;)

Very cool effects.... Hope you don't mind but I am stealing so many ideas from you....

I kind of wish we had snow but spending Christmas at the beach with 80 degree weather is not something I would trade for snow.... ;)

Great job!

I've added two more images at the top. We had some nice fog last night. Biggest problem was I couldn't see what I was doing!

Hope you don't mind but I am stealing so many ideas from you....

Feel free! If I'm going to wade through 2' of snow, I hope it gives some people some ideas & maybe they'll come up with something better? ;)
These were all done with multiple shots, Layer Masks, & the lights were added with Blend Mode > Lighten.
See post #13 for an example.

Just go away, will ya? :D

Thanks for the comments!

Very cool as usual Frank!

How do you keep the headlights from being way overexposed with those longish exposures at night? Probably a noob question but I have not experimented much with night/dusk things much and would like to more.

Nice, but boring car and the white balance...car lights or snow? Hard decision. Snow is not blue(!).

I'll post some shots of my 2007 Grand Caravan in the next week. ;):D ;):):p

Wuss!

:D Those suckers went about 60# & were building their courage as they edged closer. Their territory, not mine, so I exited, stage left.

How do you keep the headlights from being way overexposed with those longish exposures at night?

I gave you a clue: "done with multiple shots", so pick the one you like. I'll post a screen shot of the Layers Palette when I get home tomorrow.

cabin lights on

It's automatic when you close the door, unless you turn them off. They call it "Sepulcher lighting", or something like that. ;)

boring car

It gets a documented 34+mpg at an average speed of 69mph on a 130 mile trip, half of which is on 2-lane roads. When I leased it, I was prepared to hate it, but it turned out that I liked it enough to buy it when the lease ran out. So boring looking, yes, but Chevy did several things right when they designed that one.

Snow is not blue(!).

No, but the early/late light is, which you'd know if you ever got out of bed before noon?
For those who haven't seen it before, while I always start out with a WB of some sort, I sometimes warm up or cool down a shot, depending on what I think looks good. Sometimes, I only will do that to part of an image. You are the judge of what is "right" for your image, & it gives the measurebaters something to complain about. It makes them happy. ;)

Thanks again, for the comments.

Too late, as I've already done #7. That should give you some ideas to play with.

Sometimes a Blend Mode will work best:
