The annual Boxing Day motorcycle races on the Cemetery Circuit first ran in 1951 and runs today on exactly the same city streets. What was started by the Wanganui Sports Motorcycle Club has a "Continental Round-the-Houses" style motorcycle race, continues to draw international riders, fills the grids months before the event and attracts other motorsport events who use the event to promote their races.

This year's event was as good as ever - Weather was just about perfect with only the light at midday being too bright to work with.

Hightlight of the day for me was seeing the Britten V1000 ridden by the then works rider Andrew Stroud.

All shot with a MK3 and a mixture of 600 / 300 / 70-200 / 24-70 for the wide angle shot.

1. Darryl Atkins "The Kiwi Kid" having one last race before retirement. He was the class of the field lapping at front running times forthe Super 600 road bike class

7. Due respect for Will Williamson Julie Loveridge - Classic sidecar class where understeer is normal. To make the corner figure out how far the sidecar is goingto slide and launch it in and hope

Nor would you, as I'm in Australia. But the Britten is an awesome machine, and it's always a pleasure to see photos and footage of it on a track.

Great shots, and the Britten looks as good as I remember - I saw one at a show locally years ago. Thanks for sharing!

And of course the classic sidecar riders are crazy.
