To get Markins strength and Manfrotto prices, get a Sirui K30

I've owned a Markins for about ten years now, and love it. so I'm not talking up the Sirui without knowing what a Markins is like.

Agreed. I have a Sirui K30. It's a good buy and a good head. I've used ball heads for many years but a pan/tilt head with my view camera. I'm shooting a good deal of real estate now and considering buying a geared head for making those minute, precise adjustments. I think it may also be good for landscape and, especially, macro.

I use a geared head . . . the Manfrotto 410. It is a heavy beast, but I love it. :)

Nothing much to add to others here, i have RRS BH-55 and Markins Q3T with RRS clamp after i modified it, Markins is way lot lighter, and still great performance as RRS ones, but i still like using RRS ballhead for years now.

Gotta agree with Jake. Sirui K30x. Probably best bang for your buck.

Agreed. Mine is solid and very smooth. It does sag a bit doing macro, but that's a challenge for many heads.
