Im looking at studio lights. I know enough about lights themselves, but what do light grids do?

Also, what is the difference between a 10 degree grid vs 40 degree grid?

Thanks

30 degrees.

Ba-dump-bump... :-P

Grids limit the light spread. Normally light spreads everywhere. If you put a grid on it, it'll spread out at a slower angle.

10 degree grid spreads out at 10 degrees (narrow). 40 at 40. And so on.

It's all in how you use them. A grid won't get you a snooted, concentrated beam of light, but it's somewhere between snooted and bare bulb. That's all.
