I've often heard this said about this lens, but can't see what difference it makes.

Surely it's just a lens, and you need to focus it properly like any other lens ???

It's not called the brick for nothing. I see so many here that can't get good shots from the kit lens. But they expect to get perfect shots from a lens that's as heavy as the 24-70. If you can't hold it still. You are not going to get good shots.

Common Sense...Isn't

I got a new 24-70L f/2.8 in late November. Got in back from Canon service around Dec. 16 and I'm currently waiting for the shipping labels to send it to them for another try. I tried all sorts of things (tripods, timer, different bodies, etc.) and it's just plain not good.

I'm going to keep having them fix the lens until it works acceptable. In my opinion, those shots you posted are NOT acceptable.

Good luck !
My gear is there for the 4th time this year ! They always do something either to the lens or to the camera but the issue never goes away. ( to sceptics that think I do not know how to test focus, Canon guys confirm the issue )
This time something weird is going on. I sent it 4 weeks ago and besides a delivery confirmation from UPS I do not have anything from Canon. I tried to call and the customer support says my gear is somewhere at customer relationship department and they have no control over it. Customer relationship points to the service department :-(
And yes I was left without gear over Christmas and spent my extremely rare vacation at Lake Tahoe without the camera. Not sure what I can do now.

Sorry He-Man but that doesn't apply to the OP. OP already gets good shots out of the Sigma.

Did you lose Digital Photo Professional (DPP)? Get it here (external link). Cursing at your worse-than-a-map reflector? Check out this vid! (external link)

They tought me at school that a heavy object is more difficult to move than a light one. If somebody's hands are trembling it would be more noticeable with a light lens :-)
