A few boreal species from the weekend

I went up to Sax Zim Bog yesterday looking mainly for owls. I didn't get the great gray owl shot that I wanted, but here are a few others. Definitely a recommended place to visit if you get the chance! It's about 3 hours north of the Twin Cities. There were a lot of birders and photographers out and about.

Very nice series here and I would love to get a few shots of a Boreal Chickadee as well as a Gray Jay...2 birds I have nothing on. Loce the light and sky in the Northern Hawk Owl image as well.

Thanks all. It was cool to get a clear shot of the boreal chickadee. They don't seem to come out in the open as much as the black caps do. And I wish I'd had the 2x TC with me for that northern hawk owl!

Great set here. I particularly love shot 2 because of the background, but all a great.

Great shots! We've got a bunch of the black-capped chickadees coming around the feeders in the back yard. But boy, they don't sit still long enough to get a shot like you posted. Really nice.

Look for some shots tomorrow. It's supposed to be clear and we're expecting a busy morning!
