Can someone help me identify which UV filter would be suitable for my lens?

http://hvstar.net …ction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=237 (external link)

or a cheaper alternative:

What's the difference between brass or alloy on the filter? Is the material referred to the mounting ring?

Thanks.

All three work fine. Brass is the material the ring that holds the glass is made of. The difference b/n brass and alloy is that brass is heavier and feels more solid and is easier to get off your lens. I use a Hoya on my 35 and I like it. Never had a problem with it getting stuck.

Cheers

pixel_junkie is right, all three work fine.
My personal opinion would be to go for the B+W with the brass mount. Hoya's can be a bit of a pain to clean sometimes (streaking) which is why I prefer B+W.

You're almost certainly going to get people telling you not to use a filter at all, I'm not going to comment on that :)

cheers

Stick with Heliopan SH-PMC, B+W MRC or Hoya Pro1. I prefer the first two.
