Thanks for the review. The 190CXPRO3 is what I'm considering to. This review sure will help me making the decision.

The Markins Q3 is a work of art isn't it? I love mine.

I have an XTi (400D) and 24-105 lens, so basically the same set-up as you.

I'm curious how stable the tripod is when the centre column is fully extended to the top, and when the column is at the 90 degree angle. Any movement?

Thanks.

Fully extended is still quite stable.
But I dont really fully extend the centre column, since I'm only 1.72m tall.
as for the 90 degree angle is doesn't shake or have movements.
But my advice will be if you want to fully extend or 90 degree is still better to open the legs wide and that's will helps.

Pretty much any tripod will be less stable once the center column has been fully extended. Vibrations from winds or breezes, passing traffic, even your footsteps around the tripod, will magnify their effect on the stability. Extending the center column horizontally will also have the same effect, especially during long exposures. You're basically dangling about 3-4 pounds of gear away from the most stable portion of the tripod...

hardware stores do carry them, but they charge almost $5. Get them for $1 here.

Hi all,

I have make a details review of this Tripod.

Firstly, take a look at the Tripod Base.
The finishing is not that smooth and fine from the pix.
There is a leveling gauge is May kind of useful sometime.
And there are 3 screws on the base plate. That’s actually to secure the BH. (Is act like a double locking system)

This pix show under the base plate, you can use a flat head screw driver to tighten.

Due to the base plate finishing is quite rough and may scratch the BH.
I used a tape to cover the base plate to protect the BH.

The Markins Q3 BH underneath actually is clothed with a black paint.
So by putting a tape on the tripod base plate would helps and protects my BH from scratches.

Very nice review! :D
I have the "regular" 055XPROB and I was surprised to see that this one is quite smaller than mine. I am 180 cm, and with the 488 RC 2 I can stand up straight and look through the viewfinder. (30D withour grip)...
