well, the guys won so i get another crack at hockey this season next saturday. same venue as this weekend so i should have a better handle on angles and what not. i also got to play with a new weapon of mine as there is just enough light in this building to get 1/500 at f/4 so i had a bit of fun with the 300mm in some of these shots. EXIF data should be all there so have at it for settings...

about 50 pixels cropped off this one, so the 300mm on a 1.6x body is almost perfect to shoot the opposite end at ice level. a 400mm might be a bit tight.

Now i am really feeling inadequate

Nice. And 1600 ISO too!

By the way, did you change lenses on some of these - the EXIF on a few of the pics show f2? .. NVM, as i looked closer it appears you DID change out to the 135/f2. Thats a NICE lens i might have to get hold of one.

Just perfect!
I like the one with the guy lying flat on the ice! *lol*
What kind of shutter speeds did you get with the 300mm?

hahaha...its not funny, but it is. obviously someone is suffering from the unfortunate events that have occurred between the money hungry of the nhl. well all i can say is i will post a few more from saturdays final game of the season, assuming the school isn't going to send my butt out to edmonton to shoot the CIS championship, it will be my final chance at hockey.

that was one of my favorites too, its unfortunate i wasn't able to get the hit that he took to put him on his back out cold, but it was too deep in the corner. as for shutter speeds, from ice level pretty much anywhere i could get 1/500 and sometimes 1/640. from up above looking down i could consistantly get 1/800 at f/4. a f/2.8 would be so nice but considering i got the f/4 for outdoor use, getting to shoot indoors with it for hockey is a 100% bonus.

Whoohooo!!! Mustangs won! I'm from UWO class of 99. How's their football? They used to be the national champions for years. So was their Cheerleading squad.
