When I get a 5dmkII, my 40d will be my backup. Even though I dislike the fact the grip has issues when showing battery levels and the fact the 85mm 1.2L also shows issues.

I'll keep my 40D, even after I get the 5DMKII (in a year or so). A poll would have been more useful here:

1. Will keep my 40D and that's it!
2. Will get another body but still keep my 40D
3. Will sell my 40D and upgrade
4. Will sell my 40D and change hobby!

Happy New Year to All!

Most likely my next body will be a FF. I will keep the 40D since it would add versatility to all my lenses, especially at the long end.

I don't see myself rushing to do so anytime soon.

I would buy another crop body if there was something noticeably better than the 40D, for me. The 50D was not it.

Bohdan - I may be, and probably am, completely wrong.

I'll keep my 40d until the 1DMarkV comes around and I can justify the upgrade or until something goes wrong *knocks on wood*
Even if something does go wrong, I love the 1.6 crop factor, so I'll just get another 40d :)

Loyal? I've no need to give Canon any more money, just because something new came out doesn't mean my 40D stopped working ;)

Keeping my 40D. Ditching my XT and a few lenses for a 5D and L lens(es) tomorrow (hopefully, if it all goes as planned).

I'm in the process of going from 350D to 40D. I will keep that set-up for about a year or so. After that it will FF, nothing less. I don't see what else they can do to the 1.6 frame to make it dramatically better than what they've already got. The 50D is arguably slightly better, but not drastically.

I am loyal to an extent. I bought the 40 with intentions of upgrading to the 5 whenever the moment presented itself. It did, I did. I always intended to keep the 40 for wildlife, sports or other situations where the reach and speed are a factor. Add one other benefit, the live view. I find myself using live view more than I originally expected. Better on the 40: LCD, menu system, sensor cleaning, 2 more custom C settings.

Now, while I am using the 5 more than the 40, I comfortably reach for the body that works best for the L's range that I have collected. I love the 24-70's wide range on the 5 and the longer reach of the 24-70 and 70-200 on the 40.

Two tools, each excellent, each different, each well armed for a given opportunity.

As much as I love the 5, I cannot see myself loosing the 40 anytime soon. I would only consider it if I got the 5d/II with the features that it offered.

I always want C&C on my shots.

If the economic situation is better I might consider upgrading (just for AF micro-adjustment), but it is not. Besides I have yet to use 40D to its full potential.

6D + enough lenses for now.

I have two 40ds'. One is new-in-box as a spare. I do not see enough difference
to get a 50d. If I ever decide to go full-frame it would be a 5D, great for portraits
outstanding skin tones.

I may not be the village idiot, but I'll do until
he gets here.

Use my 40D for sports, and it's an awesome camera. Photos are getting better with each shoot, as I'm learing how to get the most out of the camera and non-L glass. (70-300 IS)Getting some incredible photos. I'll stick with the crop as it's ideal for sports. 1D MkIII is too heavy. IMO 50D isn't worth it....I'll wait till they improve the AF before upgrading (here's hoping)

I like my 40D.

Wish I knew they would annouce the 50D earlier than expected.
I could have saved a bit on the 40D.

Now I can't get rid of my 20D, even though it's a hell of a camera...

One day, after all the issues with the 5DII are resolved, I plan to get one. I will keep the 40D. That way I have both and crop and a FF camera. It's like doubling the lenses in my bag with one purchase.
