Beautiful shots all, really show the strength of what some consider an "old" digital camera -- and also show the beauty of what's possible with the 135mm f/2L lens. Great stuff!

^^ Thanks fellas :-) ^^

Please tell me you didn't just say, "Here Kitty Kitty"...

Back when the "real" trolleys still ran along the Memphis riverfront (this was shot in November, 2013)

Just sold my 40D (upgraded to a 7D, didn't need old faithful anymore). Can't believe how much I suddenly miss my first DSLR, pretty much ridiculous!

I've kept mine as I figured it was worth more to me as an emergency backup than what I could get for it. Just out of curiosity, what's one in good shape bringing these days?

Good decision. Literally the best valued camera out there. I would have kept it, but the budget is kinda tight at the moment so decided that it had to go...

^^ No. Just ambient light. I darkened the background a bit to make the subject stands out. Thanks :-) ^^

Well, it might be time to retire my 40D. It's been one heck of a work horse and I've been impressed with the overall quality of that body. I bought it used with about 4,800 clicks on it. I think I have about 25,000 on it now. It's been a great casual carry around camera with my cheaper lenses.

About a week ago, the Main Dial started slipping. Adjusting anything now with it is sort of touch and go. I have a grip on it that also has access to the Main Dial controls but shooting in landscape mode is awkward when adjusting shutter speed or the aperture from there.

I'm not sure if I will buy another one or try something different. Until them I will handle the 40D I have with kid gloves and try not to get too frustrated with it when it slips on me.

I have a Samsung S3. I use it to control my tv and stereo. I also use it to control my 40D that has a slipping dial also. works well when on tripod. A pain in the butt shooting freehand but doable with long usb cable.I use dslr remote. When not traveling light I use an older 10.1 tablet mounted to tripod. Gives a nice big screen view. At some point I will get someone with better eyesight to peel back the wheel and put some glue in the rubber groove.

Yes, this works. I've done it on both of my 40D bodies.
