its possible. I know there have been refernces to it in signal hill. But it has changed a lot as the years went on, even for the little bit I have been in the LB area.

Wish I could meet up with you fellows at Signal Hill Wednesday. I recall when I was a teenager back in '62 and '63, we used to go to Signal Hill to drive what we called "airplane hill". It was a road with a series of dips and humps that when you got the accelleration right, made you feel like you could experience 0 g's. :D Anyone else remember that and do you remember what road that was?

make out mountain!

Thanks for the help. It's been many years since I've been to the areas where I grew up in but I still have fond memories of that time. The Pike in Long Beach, cruisin' Tweety Blvd, Bob's Big Boy and Whittier Blvd, Mc Donalds in Downey, Harvey's Broiler also in Downey, grunion hunting at Huntington Beach and even hanging out at Knotts Berry Farm before they charged admission. :D

So with our upcoming meetup tomorrow night at Signal Hill, I'll be coordinating the next SoCal get together in the next few weeks... With a little bit of discussion with John (John Photography) on Facebook, we will be doing a dusk-night location shoot in-and-around the Music Hall in downtown LA... Within a couple of blocks from each other (more like across the street), we can cover several locations including:

- Disney Concert Hall
- LA Music Center (Dorthy Chandler Pavillion, Mark Taper Forum, Ahmanson Theatre)
- DWP (Dept. of Water and Power) Fountains
- The Grand Park
- Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels
- Views of Downtown LA Skyline

Since the weather being cooperative, it would be a great opportunity to meet-greet-and-shoot the night away... Obviously everyone's schedule is different, so I'll post a few dates/times... With that, the meetup will be based on most attendance for that date... In addition, if you have friends who would also like to participate, they are more than welcome to join this "2013 SoCal POTN Spring LA Nightscape Photowalk"... Anyhoo... Dates forthcoming in the next few days...

:D

I've also just found out that Harveys Broiler has been restored and now owned by Bob's Big Boy. I'm glad a favorite landmark of my youth has been restored...now if only I can get myself restored! :D Harveys would be an interesting place to shoot I would think.

navydoc - I think the street you're thinking of is Hill St. My first time being up there were in the early/mid 80's, still had plenty of oil wells, now a really nice park and condos.

We also used to go down that street at night, and was especially scary from the back seat, 'cause you can't see the bottom of the road. They've added a landscaped median to it now, and somehow not as scary as before.

Happy Shooting!
