Great shots lately. I love the Woody, it brings back a lot of memories...I can almost hear Jan and Dean or the Beach Boys playin' in the background. :D

Had a pretty nice sunset here today.

^ Thanks... Got a similar link from Mr John Photography via FB... Hehehehhe... I registered and got my confirmation, but I don't know if I'm going yet... As the date gets closer, I'll decide... In the meantime, here's a sunset capture from last week's meet up with Mike (Sigma Pi) and Kevin (strad.ks)...

Great shots of the sunset.

Re: the lenses, thanks for the replies!

I like to shoot behind the scenes event pictures (because I do concerts around the world and such, I like to take candid photos of my coworkers and artists).

I suppose a fast prime is better for that than a 24-105, although I did just purchase some radio triggers so I am just about to dive headfirst into the world of off-camera-flash! :)

But, for the stuff I shoot (run and gunning in dark backstages and areas), I suppose a fast prime would be better.

Maybe I should keep the 24-105, and go with the Sigma 35, so I would have:

24-105
85 1.8
35 1.4

Whatcha think of that lens collection?

Then for fun I'll save up for a 17-40 after I get the Sigma to use on the 3 days of vacation time I get each year :)

Thanks, my sunset isn't as 'exotic' as the others since I shot it from my patio. :D I used a 17-40 @ 40mm at f8 I believe (7 exposures bracketed).

I have a trip coming up where I hope to get some shots inside museums so I bought the Sigma 35 1.4 lens today. I'll just have to watch my dof but hopefully, I can get enough at f2 which is 4 times more light than I'd get at f4. Once I receive the new lens, I'll have a couple of days to play with it before my trip to see how it works out. I already have an 85 1.8 so the 35mm lens should be a good companion for it.

I should mention that I also have the 24-105 and on a full frame camera, makes a great all purpose lens in my opinion.

The lens inventory will work just fine... You've got reach and some width with the combo primes of 85mm/35mm on your 5D2... Toughest part, though, is switching between lenses on one body... It's manageable, but sometimes you'll miss photographic opportunities because of it... When I shoot events, I usually have two bodies with me... 1Ds3/The Brick and 1D3/135L combo... Sometimes I'll switch The Brick with a 35L, when I want to play with more DOF on photojournalistic captures... Anyhoo... That's my two cents in your lens collection... Best wishes to ya, good sir!!!

I like it, Gene!!! It definitely is more 'exotic' than my sunset... That's for sure!!!

This 70-200mm 2.8L is a hell of a lens.

I rented the IS Mark I version from my local shop but they gave me the Mark II. I'm not complaining.
