Question for the landscape photographers here. Do you guys subscribe to the f/11 for infinite depth of field theory? Or do you go with the smallest aperture possible (f/22 or f/32)?
I see Butch's shot is f/11 for example.

I rarely go beyond f/16... Depending on the glass, I'll go in-between f/8-f/11 on landscapes... After that, the filters take over to add depth and punch to the scenery... That's just me, though...

You get enough DOF and sharpness throughout the scene at f/8?

Depends on the scenery... But yes, I can get enough sharpness at f/8...

Another noobie question:
Anyone here shoot JPG? Or JPG+raw?

I've been comparing the 2 for the past 2 days. JPG SOOC vs. raw and my basic PP. I can't decide whether my PP is worth the added time and effort if the JPG is already pretty close

Granted this has to do with my not being a LR wiz. So my PP time is spent basically bringing the raw file back from the dull flat look it usually has to something a bit more vibrant. But then I find the JPG has already done that for me in many cases.
I'm not sure I'm producing results that are better than the JPG (I am sure others with more PP savvy regularly surpass what the camera can produce in the JPG).

Some real nice shots you got there, Pat!

Sunset was alright. Like I said, I didn't get as much out of it as I wanted. An ND or GND woulda helped a lot. Without it, I meter for the sky and end up with a dark mass below that has little to no interest.

Some shots, SOOC:

and if you couldn't see the sensor smudges on those, you will on this one:

I think my fave is the telephoto shot (at 200, on a crop sensor!)

^^ You made it....did you went all the way to the top? Just replied to your PM sorry didn't even noticed I had a message. ^^

Will do!

Tried out shots of tonight's half moon with the 70-200. Major cropping, but didn't turn out too bad.

Any feedback on the PP? I have several variations.

+1. I think the first one you posted turned out ever so slightly better than the others.
