^^Cool shots, Navydoc. I guess that museum is bigger than I thought.

This is the only Air Museum I've been to but they seem to have a nice collection of a wide variety of aircraft. The image below is from Google maps.

Gene, I noticed that there are no people in any of your shots. Is it not visited much or do you have a special pass or something? I know you have a military background, just wondering.

I got to the museum early enough and the grounds are large enough that I was able to avoid people for the most part. I left as more visiters kept showing up. This was Sunday morning.

Far too many amazing photos posted to individually recognize them all, this group has some talent!!!

Not much time to go through my shots from Sunday's sunset, these looked like the better ones. I often wonder how much better I could make these look with some proper editing.

Gene, I'm really enjoying your shots taken with the a7R. Dynamic range is so damn good!

Love your shots Gene. By the way there is a real nice air museum is at Chino airport called Planes of Fame, a must see for WWII buffs, it's one of the better museums I have seen. They also have a free air show that is very good, it is May 3 & 4 this year, in fact it would be a great POTN meet up event.

We had a couple of guests from over seas(HK & China) this weekend, plus a couple more from OC on Sat.

We started out visiting the Alpaca farm near my house. Here's a couple of snap from there.

We then headed over to one of the wineries to start the long day of drinking, we'd later return for event that evening.

Between that time we headed over one of the other wineries to meet a couple of other friends. Here's some shots from there.

I wish Sat's sunset would have been like Sun's but this is what I got while at the winery:

Upper clouds were gone by this time and we didn't get much color on the ones near the horizon, pano at 48mm(TS-E 24+2x):

On the way out to head back to the other winery I took this quick shot:

I'm at Chino every year. On Sunday that is. No better place for WWII planes.

headed over to the ice hockey rink by the house to try out some shooting there. Learned something very valuable. I had shot there before and always worry about my ISO. So I tried to not go above 800. But then I get home and am sadly dissapointed when editing because they are noisy noisy noisy. This is of course after some editing. Then I got to the ones I tried at Auto ISO and the 1600 shots looks less noisy after editing. So I learned to not be afraid of the high ISO as long as I get the exposure right otherwise. With the 800 and below shots I have to add some brightness and up the exposure since I was trying to shoot at 1/500 at the slowest.

Most of the shots are bunk but I have a better understanding for next time. Ill probably stop in tomorrow night with the new found knowledge and see what comes of it.
Still a little noisy

Thanks Eric. A few years ago, I pinched my sciatic nerve and ever since then, I can't walk very far at a time or even stand still for long without experiencing pain or numbness. The "Planes of Fame" museum seems to be much more spread out than March Field and is why I've avoided it to this point. That's also why I usually don't go to air shows is the distance from parking areas to the event itself. While doable, it certainly takes the fun out of it for me.

Permit is only required for posed photography.

"We require a photo permit for all posed and professional photography.

Group photos are limited to 10 people per group. For a permit, contact our reception desk at (657-278-3407).

An approved photo permit is processed for the cost of $100 and is valid for 1 and a half hours on the date requested. "

Hey, thanks for the info Chad. I don't think I'd pay $100 for a photoshoot there though... I'll just find another place, like Cerritos Library. :)

I'm not sure if I posted these here, but I thoroughly enjoyed shooting at Cerritos Library. If you need to do an outdoor session, I highly recommend this place. I ran into 2 other photogs within about 2 hours.
