Well, I for one don't mind giving away photos for free, seeing as its just a hobby for me. But, seeing as professionals do not like that, I guess I'd better as how much should I charge if any.

Basically a fashion designer has asked me to meet with him because he wants to incorporate some photos I've taken into his portfolio. These are just standard runway shots, nothing fancy. Anyways, I was just wondering how much the standard rates are? I mean I don't mind giving it away for free because its just a hobby and an opportunity for me to network and get more connections. However if you were to charge, how much would it be?

If you are only interested in networking and getting new connections, then I don't think anyone is going to be upset if you and the fashion designer set up a trade as his portfolio can be good for your portfolio.

I think at times professionals need to work with each other, such as photographers and models do when both need portfolio photo's.

I'm sure many others out here will have idea's about charging and it's worth, but keep in mind that you may be getting a professioanl ball park figure from someone that has the credentials already in place to ask.
